Distinctive for coarsely textured skin that turns from green to purplish-black when ripe, the Hass avocados are a smaller variety and are more oval in shape than Fuerte.
Hass fruits ship well, have a good shelf life and have been enjoying wide consumer acceptance ever since the early 1970s. The round seed is small and separates readily from the flesh which has a fat content of 18 – 23% resulting in an excellent nutty flavour. The variety is a vigorous, moderately spreading tree. It comes into cropping at an early age and usually bears regularly and heavily.
